About

This blog came into being in late 2008 when two crazy kiwis ventured north into the great white Canadian unknown, to live the dream in Yellowknife – the home of ice road truckers, 40 below lovers, old town, and the capital of Canada north (to borrow the X1A lyrics from local hip hop guru Godson)

At the end of 2009 we returned to the familiar, the place we will always call home, Aotearoa, New Zealand and settled into a small seaside village called Paekakariki, 40 minutes north of the capital Wellington.

So from musing about the unexpected delights of living in the arctic, this blog will become a collection of what I’m passionate about: food, books, films, music, travel, ideas and of course my bold new adventure, motherhood. And given my track record over the past year, I’m expecting that this will be a sparodic collection.

Of course, birds of paradise remain my favourite flower and inspiration.

Enjoy!
